Shivapuri Nagarjung National Park is the national park established in 2002 and is one of the nearest National park situated around few kilometers away from Kathmandu. This park is named after the famous peak Shivapuri Peak of two thousand seven hundred and thirty two meter height. An area of one hundred and fifty nine square kilometer is covered by this place and is extend in Kathmandu, Nuwakot, Sindhupalchowk and Dhading District.
This area has its own importance for the the source of water supply for Kathmandu Valley.This place has been providing several thousand liter of water daily to Kathmandu. Shivapuri was established as a protected watershed and wildlife reserve in 1976 and further in 2002 it combines with Nagarjun Forest Reserve forming Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park.
This place is the best traveling destination for the people nearby Kathmandu valley to get refreshment and enjoy the beauty of nature.One can reach this place either from Sundarijal or from Budanilkantha. We need to travel to Chisapani to enter to the park from Budanilkantha side. We can reach to Sundarijal from old bus park via a local bus and after that we have to trek few minutes to reach the entrance of Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park.
After a short walk we reach to the beautiful dense forest which makes us feel as if we are far from the busy and noisy town. The fresh air and the melodious sound of stream water makes us feel as if we are in heaven. Everybody get attracted by the melodious songs of birds.
