Badimalika Temple is one of the major Temple situated in Bajura Districts at a height of around four thousand five hundred and seventy two meter from sea level.Everyone get attracted by the landscape and biodiversity of this place during traveling towards this place.
One can reach Badimalika temple from Martdi (The Headquater of Bajura district) via a narrow and difficult trek. It takes around two to three days to reach this place from Martdi. Although the track is difficult but a nature lover forget all the pain and force himself to enjoy the beauty of nature. There are no any lodge and restaurants for travelers to serve. Thus, travelers have to carry all the necessary amenities with them.
According to Hindu myths, when Daksha Prajapati (Father of Sati Devi) was performing a Yagya, he had invited al the god and goddess but he did not invite Lord Shiva (Husband of Sati Devi). After knowing this truth from sage Narad she went to her father's yagya and asked him the reason.Daksha Prajapati addressed that Mahadev drank liquor, smoked weeds, rested in cemeteries, wore a snake around his neck, wore tiger cover up, subsequently he was not a suitable individual to welcome for such a vital yagya.After listening such cruel words towards her husband Sati hopped into the yagya fire and surrendered her life. Lord Shiva began to grieve the demise of his wife. He started travelling everywhere throughout the world convey Sati's dead body.As Sati's body begain to spoil and its parts thumble off, each place where her body fell got to be a holy place. It is belived that her left shoulder fell in Mallagiri mountain which was then referred to as Malika.
This place is full of pilgrims during Malika Chaturdashi.Although it is situated in remote area but the natural view and the deep believe on goddess Malika make this place popular.One who reach here belives that this is the heaven in this earth.
