This is the lake situated in the Annapurna range of the Himalayas within Manang District,Nepal. It is about four kilometer long and one kilometer wide and lies at the foot of 7,134m summit. It is one of the challenging treks here in Nepal.
It takes around three and half day to reach this place from Manang.During the trek to Tilicho from Manang, we pass an old Tibetan style village name Khangsar.After that we reach the Tilocho base camp Lodge managed by the people of Khangstar. It is open only after December and you have to be sure of it by asking to any one in the village.The fine village and the wide diversity of the ethnics group along the route make our trek more interesting.By crossing The Tilicho lake the trail goes to Yak Kharka and joins the normal Annapurna circuit route.
Anyone enjoying Annapurna circuit route usually cross this lake in between Manang and Kali Gandaki valleys above the 5,000 meter high Thorong La pass. There aren’t any lodges or even a tea shop past the Tilicho Base camp lodge.Tilicho Lake and the trek you pass is an incredibly revitalizing experience.Cristal clean water reflecting the images of snow capped mountains and clear blue sky makes force you to fell that you are in the heaven.This lake is surrounded mainly by Tilicho mountain, Nilgiri mountain, Khangsar mountain and Muktinath peak.
