Dharan is a beautiful city of
eastern region of Nepal situated in the Sunsari District.It is situated
on the lap of Mahabharat Range at north while touching Terai region in
south.Clean environment, well managed road and buildings.Lots of popular
temples and way to beautiful places like Bhedetar, Basantapur, Hile and
Barahachetra and Chatara makes it more popular.
One can reach Dharan via bus from Kathmandu or may go to Biratnagar on air and take a local bus to reach Dharan from there.
There
are lots of popular temples situated in Dharan.Among them few are
Dantakali Temple, Pindeshwari Temple, Budha Subba Temple , Pancha Kanya
Temple.Other attraction includes the Clock Tower and the view of plain
Terai from the Vijayapur hill.
Dantakali Temple:
This
temple is on the Vijayapur hill.This holy temple is famous to Hindus as
Teeth fallen place of Satidevi (wife of Lord Shiva).According to Hindu
myth Lord Shiva carries the body of death wife (Satidevi) on his back
and walked to different places.As he walked on the Teeth fekk in the
place where the temple is situated now.There are lots of pilgrims came
here during the days of Dashain.
Pindeshwar Temple:
This
temple is locatedat the south part of Vijayapur hill.This place have
pre historic statues and temples of different god and goddess.Among
these temples the temple of Asthabhuja Devi is popular.Amazing fact of
this temple is that oil lamps are kept burning incessantly.And there is a
tradition to re-lid the lamp with the fire from Ram Dhuni.Thousand of
people visit this place during the month of Sharwan.
Budha Subba Temple:
This
temple is located in the Eastern part of Vijayapur hill.This temple is
the Temple of Kirat god but there is no any statue of god.There are
three mounds.The amazing fact of this place is that there are no tops of
the bamboos in the bamboos trees there.People believe that if any one
worship here with pure heart than there wish gets fulfilled.
